Education is important in our modern days now. From our primary school education to secondary to polytechnic or Junior college to university is very important and crucial in life now and in the future. Without education or degree, it would be hard for us to find jobs in future. Even elderly nowadays, are going through simple English education organized specially for them. This will allow them to communicate with other people easily using the same language. Language plays an important role in our life. That’s why even elderly and adults who were not educated in English were told to learn them.
Example for myself, I am studying in secondary school level. I take seven subjects that include, English, Mathematics, Chinese, Science, Design &Technology, Geography and combined humanities (Social Studies and History). English is always the most important subject of all seven of the subjects. In every exam that I took, it all requires English and two other subjects to pass my overall examination. English is the first language subject that would be required to pass in order to pass the ‘O’ level. Mathematics is also an important subject. In most of the courses available in polytechnic requires mathematics to qualify for the course. Also, math can be useful in the future. Even in our daily lives now, we use simple calculation everyday. Design & Technology is also a subject that students now would like to study. Design & Technology can also be useful in our future. For example, if you are taking the Design & Technology subject in school now, you can take a course that offers designing in poly. In future, you can also be a designer if you work towards in Design & Technology. Next, Chinese is also a language subject that all Chinese students need to study in school. Nowadays, many students came from English speaking homes, so they can speak perfect English, but not Chinese although it is part of their race. Students would still have to study Chinese as it is still part of their subject in their overall report card. Chinese is also important as it can also be use for communication with people.
Co-curricular activities (CCAs) are activities that students participate in school. It is also part of education. CCAs were made compulsory for all students now. Many schools have offered many types of CCAs, like National cadet corps (NCC). NCC is a uniform group that is normally found in secondary schools only. It is basically like army training in army camps. The main motive is to let students have a feel of how army is like and they would be more prepared when they go for National Service (NC) in the future.
Overall, I would like to conclude that education is very important now as well as in the future. Every type of education is useful in our life. It is not just taking exams in school that is considered important. CCA also teaches different values besides just holding a book in front of ourselves.
